About Us
A Place to Feel Safe. A Place to Feel Connected. A Place to Belong. Every Kid Deserves a Place.
Who We Are
When the school bell rings at the end of every day, kids across La Plata County pour out of classrooms and into their after school routines. For some, this means heading home where they are met by a parent who helps them with homework before driving them to basketball practice and piano lessons. For others in our community, after school options are far less certain, stable, and safe.
Open when schools are not, our Club provides a safe and fun alternative to being unsupervised during out-of-school time. Over 1,500 youth attend the Club each year for activities, to see their friends, and to spend time with positive and encouraging adults.
As one of the most well-known youth organizations in the country, Boys & Girls Clubs provide young people with opportunities to engage in programs that help them achieve academic success, take charge of their health by building healthy habits that will stick with them throughout their lives, and foster the skills they need to become leaders in their communities.
Since 2007, the Boys & Girls Club has been a safe place for La Plata County kids and families when they need us most: after school and all day in the summer. Our Club members have access to a wealth of programming that has the power to positively shape and change their lives, a place to have fun, where they can chase their hopes and dreams.
What We Do
The Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County is committed to developing generations of kids with the skills to meet life’s challenges and inspire others. By collaborating with families, schools, and other partners in the community, the Club is able to provide children a safe space to explore who they are and who they want to be – and we believe that all kids have what it takes to be GREAT!
Our Club is staffed by experts in youth development. These trained professionals deliver nationally-recognized and innovative, local programs to our Club members. By tracking participation and results, we are able to continually evaluate our effectiveness.
We also recognize that every child’s and every family’s situation is unique. That’s why we collaborate with partner organizations and stay flexible with our approach, allowing us to meet the changing needs of the families we serve. We’re proud to partner with the Colorado Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, a statewide coalition representing 17 organizations in the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement.
