Tienna Begay – Director of School-based Sites

In this role, Tienna partners with Durango School District (DSD) and Boys & Girls Club to expand and enhance after-school opportunities, ensuring programs meet licensing requirements while fostering academic success, leadership, and healthy lifestyles. Prior to that, Tienna worked as a Site Director for two years and dedicated four years to being a preschool teacher. Tienna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Leading in Context at Fort Lewis College. When she isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling to new places, and exploring new hobbies..

Kathrene Frautschy – Director of Development

A graduate of DePaul University in Chicago, Kathrene has dedicated the past 20 years to advancing Durango’s nonprofit sector through her expertise in relationship-building, fundraising, and strategic community engagement. She views development work as more than resource generation, it’s an opportunity to help people live out what she describes as “imprinted on their hearts: making a difference in the lives of others.” Known for her thoughtful leadership and genuine ability to connect, Kathrene brings both skill and passion to her role at the Boys & Girls Club. Beyond her professional work, she is an avid reader and art appreciator, continually inspired by creativity and new perspectives.

Megan Hayes – Director of Club Services

Megan has been with the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County for 17 years since the doors opened in September 2007. Whether she is training staff, creating art program curriculum, or diving into data, Megan finds purpose in building a strong organization. Outside of the Club, Megan enjoys spending time with her family in the beautiful mountains of La Plata County, whether on a paddleboard, set of skis or with her hiking pack.

Frank Knappe – Director of Operations

Frank is a former Club Director for Boys & Girls Clubs in CA and Denver. Frank comes to Durango after living in Littleton, CO for the past 14 years working with teen parents as a Family Engagement Manager.
A proud Chapman University graduate with a degree in Organizational Leadership, Frank has a passion, and a love for the outdoors. When he’s not at the Club, you’ll find him pedaling, paddling, or hiking his way through the beautiful Colorado Rockies

Vaughn Morris – CEO

Vaughn is a graduate of Fort Lewis College. Vaughn has been part of the Boys & Girls Club movement for over 20 years and was recruited to open the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County in 2007. Vaughn serves as the president of the United Way of Southwest Colorado, a trustee of the Pine River Library, and treasurer of the Durango Chamber of Commerce. Vaughn is a graduate of the Leadership La Plata Program and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Harvard School of Business Leadership program. Vaughn enjoys all aspects of sports from participant to referee to spectator.

Sue Riley – Membership Coordinator

Sue was born and raised in Rugby, England. She studied Child Care and Development at Aylesbury College of Further Education. She moved to TX in 1995 with her husband and 2 young children where she worked as a Real Estate professional for many years. Sue was also an active volunteer with the local Rotary club and various non-profit organizations, serving on the board of the local Chamber of Commerce and United Way.

On moving to Durango in 2022, Sue was looking for an opportunity to work in a role that gave back to the community. With experience with both children and non-profits, The Boys and Girls Club made a great fit. She enjoys greeting the members each day and helping parents with their questions about membership and registration.

In her spare time Sue likes to travel, hike, snowshoe, spend time with family and friends, read and crochet.
